Primal Acres Farm is located in central Ohio, just north of Columbus. We raise & sell Black Copper Marans chicks and hatching eggs and are NPIP inspected.

We have been breeding BC Marans since 2019. Our line originated from Red Wicket Market Farm in Ashville, Ohio. In 2022 we added several birds from Kluemper lines in IN, and Sage Acres Farm in NJ. All breeders mentioned above worked on their Marans line for many years before us. We have them to thank for our beautiful foundation birds.

Primal Acres goal is to select breeding stock that lays the darkest chocolate eggs, while also striving to meet the “Standard Of Perfection” for the Marans breed.

1-7 Day old, straight run (unsexed) chicks are $15 ea

One dozen Marans hatching eggs - $85

*as with anyone breeding Marans, I can not guarantee that every pullet I produce will lay the darkest egg possible. There are too many genes involved in egg color to be able to reliably predict the shade of each pullets egg. Also, be aware that individual hens can and will lay different colored eggs from day to day and from dark to lighter during their egg laying seasonal cycle.
